ASA signed onto letters with the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) and others in the sportsmen community to congressional leaders outlining sportsmen’s priorities in upcoming Water Resources and Development Act (WRDA) legislation.
WRDA is an important reoccurring bundle of legislation that focus specifically on our nation’s water resources, dictating projects the Army Corps of Engineers will implement through the next year.
The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy & Water Development had a hearing on March 14, 2018 on the FY19 budget request for the Army Corps and Bureau of Reclamation, while the House Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment had a hearing on March 15, 2018 laying the groundwork for a WRDA bill.
ASA and the other sportsmen’s groups identified three projects currently requiring congressional authorization that, when implemented, will advance long-held priorities from the sportsmen, conservation, and outdoor recreation communities, including parts of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP); the important plan the Army Corps has been working on the continue Everglades restoration.
