On March 7, 2017, Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) and Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) introduced the Transparent Summer Flounder Quotas Act. This bill serves to support New Jersey’s saltwater anglers in keeping the status quo for the 2017 and 2018 fishing seasons instead of the looming 40 percent quota reduction.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) earlier this year proposed drastic cuts in summer flounder quotas which further highlighted the need for better data to aid scientific-based fisheries management decisions.
