The American Sportfishing Association’s Future of Fishing Award was presented to Carl Liederman, president of Capt. Harry’s Fishing Supply in Miami, Fla.

A long-time ASA member, for decades Liederman has been a driving force in numerous initiatives, projects and organizations on the local, state and national levels to help conserve fisheries resources and maintain public access for current and future generations of anglers.

Carl’s son produced a descending device which is used today to allow fish to survive barotrauma as they return safely to deep waters. Carl then advocated for the DESCEND Act to help protect bottom fish.
