Forrest Wood

Forrest Wood received the American Sportfishing Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998, recognizing his significant contributions to the sport and industry.

Forrest and Nina Wood were inducted into the Fishing Hall of Fame in 2009 for their pioneering contributions to freshwater sportfishing. Forrest, known as the “Father of the Modern Bass Boat,” founded Ranger Boats in 1968 and revolutionized bass boat design, introducing innovations like aerated livewells and level flotation, which became industry standards. Despite early setbacks, including a devastating fire, Forrest’s determination led to the company’s success.
