Earlier this year, ASA joined the Yellowstone Gateway Business Coalition, a diverse group of several hundred businesses, landowners, and organizations around Yellowstone National Park who seek to protect the world-famous trout streams, among other aspects of the ecosystems that contribute to the rapidly growing local outdoor recreation economy, from proposed mining.
Several members of the coalition traveled to Washington D.C. in late July and met with the Montana delegation and several agency staff to discuss the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act S.941. This legislation received a hearing in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forests and Mining on Wednesday, July 26.
