WHY FISHING SHARE THE FUN?

The Fishing Share the Fun campaign was launched in spring of 2022 to address the post-pandemic decline in fishing participation. Sadly, our year-two challenge is even bigger, as we saw a net loss of 2.4 million fishing participants in 2021. ​

While we gained 11.6 new or returned anglers, 14 million people left the sport. This equates to a $1,347* loss in annual industry revenue per lost angler. $18,858,000,000 Almost $19 billion!​

How can we stem those losses? ASA is partnering with the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation to expand the reach and engagement of FSTF and provide for members the tools needed to launch a successful R3 campaign this summer.​

Welcome to the Fishing Share The Fun marketing campaign, where together we can engage and inspire seasoned anglers to encourage lapsed anglers to get back out on the water.

The #1 objective of the ASA strategic plan is Building the Sportfishing Community. FSTF is an opportunity to galvanize ASA members by providing the direction and backdrop for members to actively support our goal of growing the sportfishing community. As a trade association our audience is our members, and we are asking them to invite their colleagues, customers and stakeholders to take a friend fishing and share the fun.

Expanding the Sportfishing Community

By increasing participation in the campaign we meet an important ASA objective of building and expanding our community, as well as participation in the sportfishing industry. We also need to reach a more diverse audience of participants.

Increase Participation in the Campaign by 50% Over 2022

Last year we had a tight time frame in which to develop and roll out this campaign. Now that we have the foundational elements in place, we are focusing on growing participation significantly–by 50%.
