In 1950, the Dingell-Johnson Act established a “user pay, public benefit” system that is the backbone of fisheries conservation funding. By collecting an excise tax on the sale of fishing tackle and marine fuel, Dingell-Johnson has generated more than $12 billion to support fishery conservation and public access. The current authorization of the Dingell-Johnson Act expires in late 2026. Thankfully, Reps. @repdingell (D-MI) and @reprobwittman (R-VA) introduced the Sport Fish Restoration, Recreational Boating Safety, and Wildlife Restoration Act of 2025. Tell your Representative to join as a cosponsor on this critical legislation. 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐈𝐍 𝐁𝐈𝐎
