On August 1, 2018, ASA sent a Policy Alert to members stating that the Trump Administration intended to place tariffs of 10 percent on another $200 billion in products imported from China.
The alert provided a list of products categorized by the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS).

Update: The Administration is now proposing to impose tariffs of 25 percent (up from 10 percent) on that $200 billion list of products imported from China.
Written Comments are Being Accepted
As a condition of the new 25 percent tariffs, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has extended the written comment period to September 5, 2018. The previous date cited in our last alert was August 17, 2018.

A Public Hearing is Scheduled
The USTR also will hold a public hearing in Washington D.C. beginning at 9:30 a.m. on August 20, 2018 to receive oral testimony (maximum of five minutes) by affected companies.
Requests to testify/appear in person must be submitted to the USTR by August 13, 2018.
USTR instructions to apply to testify are as follows:
- To submit a request to appear at the hearing via the Regulations website, enter docket number USTR-2018-0026 on the home page and click “search.”
- The site will provide a search-results page listing all documents associated with this docket. Find the reference to this notice and click on the link titled “Comment Now!”
- In the “comment” field, include the name, address, email address and telephone number of the person presenting the testimony. Attach a summary of the proposed testimony and a pre-hearing submission, if provided, by using the “upload file” field.
- The file name should include both the name of the person who will be presenting testimony and the entity they represent.
- In addition, please submit a request to appear and a PDF of the summary of your proposed testimony by email to 301investigation@ustr.eop.gov.
- In the subject line of the email, please include the name of the person who will be presenting testimony, followed by “request to appear.” Please also include the name, address, email address, and telephone number of the person presenting testimony in the body of the email message.

Please let ASA know if your products are proposed for these tariffs and provide ASA with a copy of your comments submitted to USTR.
