Industry member, Rob Keith, joins the American Sportfishing Association as Member Services Manager
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) is pleased to announce that Rob Keith, most recently with The Wilderness Society, is the organization’s new Member Services Manager.
“Finding the right candidate for the new Member Services Manager position was not easy,” said Blake Swango, vice president for Trade Show and Membership. “The position required someone with knowledge of and experience in the recreational fishing retail sector. We also needed someone who understands the federal and state legislative process as well as someone who has a passion for fishing. Rob has them all.”
ASA created the Member Services Manager position to focus on fishing retailers. Rob’s responsibilities include educating prospective members about the association, the benefits of membership, best practices on recruiting and retaining anglers and providing information and programs to support their business. He will also be reaching out to the retail sector to understand the issues – business and legislative – that are impacting their business.
“This new position has the opportunities and challenges I was seeking,” said Rob. “I look forward to working with our retail members and growing the membership to better serve the wider fishing community.”
Rob has several years of experience in the fishing and outdoor industry, including the state legislative process. He spent five years on Trout Unlimited’s national staff working with volunteer leaders and has spent the last three years on the Government Relations staff at The Wilderness Society working on public lands issues.
An Alexandria, Va. native, Rob is a graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee. He is also an avid angler who is equally happy chasing trout in western rivers or striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay.
