Sportfishing in America

A Reliable Economic Force

Whether fishing along the banks of a rural, wooded stream or miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, recreational fishing is enjoyed by Americans of all ages and from every walk of life, making it the perfect activity for time alone or with family and friends.
While fishing doesn’t have to be a costly activity, the money spent by anglers adds up…quickly. According the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF), the number of all anglers, six years and older, has grown steadily in recent years, reaching 50.1 million in 2019, or roughly one in six Americans. Together, they spend over $51 billion annually on equipment, licenses, trips and other fishing-related items or events. Anglers are truly a force to be heard.
