(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) – Keep Florida Fishing®’s (KFF) Kellie Ralston, who serves as Southeast Fisheries Policy Director for the American Sportfishing Association, provided the following statement related to Governor Ron DeSantis announcing an additional Gulf red snapper weekend, after having already extending Gulf Private Recreational Red Snapper Season. The additional days are Sat., Nov 2 and Sun., Nov. 3.

“We thank Governor DeSantis and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for their announcement of an additional weekend for anglers to get on the water in the Gulf and fish for red snapper. The state’s leadership in developing accurate recreational harvest estimates through the Gulf Reef Fish Survey has been instrumental in expanding responsible, science-based access to this important species for private anglers. We strongly support the extension of this Survey and its expansion statewide to address data challenges with other recreational species and on the Atlantic coast. Florida’s more than 4 million anglers are counting on it,” said Kellie Ralston, Southeast Fisheries Policy Director of the American Sportfishing Association.
