Alexandria, VA – October 31, 2019 – Starting today, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) will begin accepting tariff exclusion requests for Chinese imports defined on List 4a of Section 301 tariffs.

American Sportfishing Association (ASA) members who are requesting an exclusion should register on USTR’s exclusion process portal as soon as possible. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through January 31, 2020.

Detailed information was released by USTR regarding procedures to request an exclusion from tariffs in addition to information put forward by ASA last week to help prepare members for the exclusion process.

Products of particular importance that were hit with an additional 15% tariff starting on September 1, 2019 which include some, but not limited to, the follow product:

  • 9507.20.40 Fish hooks, snelled
  • 9507.20.80 Fish hooks, not snelled
  • 9507.30.60 Fishing reels, valued over $8.45 each
  • 9507.30.80 Parts and accessories for fishing reels
  • 9507.90.20 Fishing line, put up and packaged for retail sale
  • 9507.90.40 Fishing casts or leaders
  • 9507.90.70 Artificial baits and flies
